Allen Smith – Men’s Basketball

From Denver, Colorado, to Wilberforce, Ohio, Allen Smith left an indelible mark on Central State University basketball — a leader, a competitor, and a true embodiment of the Marauder spirit.

During his impactful three-year career at Central State, Smith established himself as one of the program’s greats. A two-time team MVP and recipient of the Unsung Hero Award, his on-court presence was defined by skill, intelligence, and an unwavering will to win. His career featured countless highlights, including a legendary 30-point performance against Division I Wright State, where he led the Marauders to snap the Raiders’ 25-game home winning streak — a moment forever etched in Central State basketball history.

Yet, Allen Smith’s legacy extended far beyond statistics. He was a tone-setter — in the locker room, on the practice floor, and throughout the campus community. He earned recognition on eight of nine all-tournament teams, including back-to-back MVP honors at the Windsor Maple Classic, demonstrating consistent excellence and leadership throughout his collegiate career.

Off the court, Allen’s influence only grew stronger. He traveled internationally with Athletes in Action, using the game of basketball as a platform for mentorship, service, and faith-based inspiration. His commitment to leadership continued in education, where he has served as a district superintendent in major cities including Oakland, Charlotte, San Antonio, and Denver — impacting countless students, families, and communities.

Allen Smith is more than a decorated athlete — he is a builder, leader, and role model, living proof that the lessons of teamwork, discipline, and character learned on the court can shape generations off it.
