2001–2002 Central State University Women’s Basketball Team

The 2001–2002 Central State University Women’s Basketball Team stands as one of the most dominant and dynamic squads in the proud history of Marauder athletics — a team that embodied power, precision, and purpose every time they took the floor.

That remarkable season, the Lady Marauders compiled an extraordinary 30–2 record, averaging 100 points per game, and showcasing an electrifying brand of basketball that captured national attention. Their relentless pace, balanced scoring, and defensive intensity made them one of the most feared programs in NAIA Division I, culminating in a berth in the NAIA Final Four — a defining moment for Central State University athletics.

This was a team built on excellence. They were nationally ranked, featured multiple All-Americans, and included several individuals who would later be enshrined in the Central State Athletic Hall of Fame. Yet their success was never about individual accolades — it was about collective commitment, discipline, and an unshakable belief in each other.

Their 2002 Final Four appearance not only marked a historic achievement but also cemented their place as trailblazers for women’s basketball at Central State. They set a new standard — proving that Lady Marauder basketball could compete with and defeat the nation’s best, while maintaining excellence in the classroom and leadership in the community.

The legacy of the 2001–2002 Lady Marauders continues to inspire future generations of student-athletes to dream bigger, work harder, and represent Central State with pride.
