Logo usage and restrictions regarding the Central State athletic logo

The Central State University Marauder logo is an important business asset to the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics at Central State and should be treated with care and respect.

We rely on our logo to identify our products, events, services, activities and programs to distinguish them from those of our competitors. We take tremendous pride in our products and programs. We respectfully ask you to support our efforts to enforce the Marauder logo and take the steps necessary to use the logo properly. All parties intending to use the logo, must review the following guidelines as listed in this document.

The Marauder Logo

The Marauder logo is a registered trademark that is owned by Central State University.


Use of the Marauder Logo

The Marauder logo is designed to designate products and services developed by Central State University Athletics and may be used by paying licensees in its exact form to advertise and promote Central State University Athletics' products and services. Under no circumstances may the Marauder logo trademark be used without Central State Athletics' express written consent to manufacture and sell products such as apparel, accessories or any other merchandise. Written consent from the Central State University Athletic Department is also required in order to use the Marauder logo trademark in any digital applications, advertisements, print material, social media, video, or online identification.

The correct format of the Marauder logo is indicated in the area below. The logo is not to be used in any form that varies from the samples below and must not be used in combination with any other trade name or logo.

Authorized dealers and any company or person licensed by Central State University have the right to promote and use the Marauder logo. We ask that our dealers or licensees contact us immediately if they become aware of any unauthorized or improper use of the Marauder logo.

The Marauder logo is a registered trademark and is the main logo representing the Central State University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. The Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is the only department permitted to use the mark. Any usage needs to be approved by the Athletics Department or the Office of General Counsel.

In addition to team sports apparel, we also use and own trademark rights of the Marauder logo for sports instruction, events, video, publications, facility identification, digital applications, clothing, social media and online presence, and all other merchandise items.

What Is the Purpose of registering the Marauder Logo?

Legally registering the rights to our logo gives us legal means for protecting consumers, licensees, distributors and our institution from imitation or counterfeit products and programs. These rights include the exclusive right to use our athletic logo in the countries they are registered as the primary method to identify our goods, services and programs.

Proper use of the registered serves to distinguish Marauder products and services from the products and services of other companies and helps prevent damage to our brand.

Using the registered mark properly clearly informs the public that the entity has purchased the authentic goods or services of the Marauder brand, and not from any other person or business.


Who may legally use the Marauder logo?

Authorized dealers and any company or person licensed Central State University has the right to promote and use the Marauder logo.

We ask that our dealers or licensees contact us immediately if they become aware of any unauthorized or improper use of the Marauder logo. Those wishing to use the Marauder logo, colors in any form should immediately contact the Central State University Sports Information Office to discuss fees and regulations.

Outside parties who use the Marauder logo without proper consent from the Sports Information Office will be subject to fines as well as be required to eradicate all unapproved Marauder logo branded material within the parties' possession.


The Marauder Logo Should Not Be Used In Any of the Following Ways:

- With the abbreviated term "CSU." All logo usage should include the full words "Central State University."
- Misspelled
- As part of a trade name (e.g., "The New Mexico Marauder Club").
- As a generic term (e.g., as a name for an alumni group, activity or other products).
- To advertise programs or products that are not affiliated with Central State University Athletics
