Box Score Lady Marauders battle to five-set victory over Fort Valley State
ALBANY, Georgia –The Central State Lady Marauders defeated Fort Valley State, 3-2, in the final game of the two-day SIAC Crossover in Albany, Georgia.
CSU fought back from an early 7-2 deficit to edge FVSU, 25-23, in the first set. The Lady Marauders dropped the second set, 25-19.
Behind a balanced attack led by
Deja Clark,
Desiree Howard, and
Jade Simmons, CSU won the third set, 25-22.
Fort Valley State won the fourth, 25-19, to force a deciding fifth set. The Lady Marauders jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead. FVSU scored the next four points to tie the set.
Desiree Howard responded for CSU with a kill set up by
Danielle Lyttle. CSU maintained its lead for the duration of the set. With the score at 11-8, CSU scored the next three points. Howard ended the match with an authorities kill as CSU took the set, 15-10.

Deja Clark continues to pace the Lady Marauders. Clark led the team with 18 kills, 16 digs, and two blocks. Howard finished with 11 kills and Simmons recorded 10 kills for the afternoon.

CSU will travel to Salem, West Virginia to play Salem University and Bluefield State College on Friday. Matches are scheduled to start at 5 pm and 7 pm.
