Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Marauders Sweep LeMoyne-Owen

Central State walked away with a 3–0 sweep over LeMoyne-Owen, but it wasn't one of the Marauders' cleaner outings. Even so, the team found enough focus late in each set to lock down the win, taking the match 25–23, 26–24, 25–17.

Grinding Through the First Two Sets

The opening sets were tight and choppy on both sides. CSU struggled to find rhythm offensively and left points on the table with attack and service errors. Still, when each set reached its final moments, the Marauders managed to steady themselves just long enough to pull out the points they needed, edging out wins of 25–23 and 26–24.

A Stronger Finish in Set Three

The third set finally gave Central State a little breathing room. A late surge sealed the night, highlighted by Johanna Holston's service ace and a key kill from Maya Hendricks off a clean feed from Nia McGhee. The Marauders closed it out 25–17, putting an end to a match where execution didn't always match their usual standard.

Stat Leaders in a Scrappy Win

Despite the uneven play, CSU had strong individual efforts.

  • Zahra Coates led with 12 kills.

  • Hendricks added 9, providing timely swings when CSU needed them most.

  • The Marauders also collected 14 aces, which proved to be the difference-maker in a match where consistent offense was harder to come by.

A Win to Build From

It wasn't the crisp performance the Marauders expect from themselves, but they found a way to win each set when it mattered most. The sweep moves Central State forward with plenty to clean up — and plenty still to build on.The Marauders take on Lane, Saturday November 8th for senior day!
