Central State University's senior linebacker Domonique Davis II has capped one of the most remarkable defensive seasons in recent Division II history with a well-deserved selection to the College Commissioners' Association (D2CCA) First Team All-American squad. The honor places Davis among the elite defenders in the nation and recognizes his relentless performance and impact on the gridiron throughout the 2025 season.

 Anchoring the Central State defense, Davis produced 113 total tackles, including 16.5 tackles for loss and five sacks, while creating havoc in coverage with four interceptions and forcing multiple fumbles. His nose for the ball translated to scoring opportunities as well, with three takeaways returned for touchdowns — a rare feat for any defensive player.

His physicality and instincts were on full display in several marquee matchups. In one standout performance at the Frederick Douglass HBCU Classic, Davis recorded 12 tackles, two tackles for loss, and a fumble recovery returned for a touchdown, spearheading a dominant defensive effort. 

Davis's excellence wasn't confined to a handful of games; week in and week out he consistently ranked among the SIAC's top performers. He also earned SIAC Defensive Player of the Year honors, a testament to his leadership and dominance within the conference.

A Nationally Recognized Leader

Being named First Team All-American by the D2CCA places Davis in an elite class of Division II defenders — a collection of players whose performances rank among the best in college football at any level. His combination of tackling efficiency, playmaking ability, and leadership has not only driven the Marauders' defensive identity this season but has also put his name in consideration for national awards and future opportunities beyond the collegiate game.

For Central State University, this recognition is more than an individual accolade — it reflects the growing prominence of its football program and the standard of excellence its student-athletes continue to achieve. And for Davis, the honor caps a career defined by hard work, athletic excellence, and impact on every snap.
