JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — November 1, 2025 — Central State University football closed its 2025 campaign on a high note, delivering a gritty 21–17 victory over Edward Waters University to spoil the Tigers' homecoming and build momentum heading into the offseason.
The Marauders' defense stole the show, forcing five interceptions and holding Edward Waters to just 149 rushing yards and 74 passing yards on the day. Senior linebacker Domonique Davis II capped off his spectacular season with another standout performance, recording 13 tackles, 3.0 tackles for loss, and a quarterback hurry — strengthening his case for SIAC Defensive Player of the Year and NCAA All-American honors.
Defensive Takeover
From the opening kickoff, the Marauder defense set the tone. Justin Harris opened the scoring with a 33-yard interception return for a touchdown, giving CSU an early 7–0 lead.
Sophomore defensive back Dylan Purry turned in the best performance of career, snagging three interceptions to anchor the Marauder secondary. Travion Searcy and Harris added one interception apiece as CSU shut down the Tigers' passing game, allowing only eight completions for 74 yards.
The front seven was equally disruptive. Mathias Davis posted two sacks and two tackles for loss, while Bishop Blakely and Marcus Tillman added critical stops to keep the Tigers out of rhythm.
Momentum Builder
The Marauders held Edward Waters scoreless in the fourth quarter, forcing punts on their final three drives to seal the win and end the season with a statement road victory.
