WILBERFORCE, Ohio – Central State celebrated one its student-athletes accomplishments early in the game and held on late for a 72-71 win over Spring Hill on Saturday.

Central State guard Marcus Scott V, who entered the game needing four points to reach 1000 career points, hit the milestone after a made free throw at the 16:19 mark of the first half. Scott V's accomplishments were recognized during the ensuing media timeout where he was presented with the gameball by President Dr. Jack Thomas, Head Coach Antonio Davis, and Interim Director of Athletic Nicole Pluger.
Once the celebration was over, intensity picked back up in Beacom/Lewis Gymnasium as Central State and Spring Hill battled back and forth to the tune of 12 lead changes throughout the afternoon.

With a six point lead after a Ibrahima Jarjou basket at the 4:59 mark of the second half, CSU surrendered a 8-0 run to SHC. A Tim Reilly three-pointer gave SHC a 67-65 lead with 2:45 to play. Scott V answered on the other end for the Marauders, draining his fifth three-pointer of the game to put CSU back up by one. The teams continued to trade baskets during the final 90 seconds of play. CSU freshman Steven Key II proved to be a difference make down the stretch. Key II converted a basket in the paint to give the Marauders a one point lead with 12 seconds left and then came up with the deflection and steal on the defensive end to help seal the CSU victory.
