Marauders beat Benedict in opening round of SIAC Tournament
ROCK HILL, South Carolina -Â The Central State Marauders open SIAC tournament play with a victory over Benedict in four sets (25-17, 22-25, 25-16, 27-25).
Cameron Lee, an All-SIAC 1st Team selection, led all players with a season-high 23 kills.
Victor Scherer, who was named SIAC Libero of the Year prior to the match, matched a season-high with 17 digs. Teammate and SIAC Setter of the Year
Marcus Franck recorded a season-best 52 assists in the victory.
As a team, CSU combined for 59 kills and 23 errors on 128 total attacks (.281) while BC finished with 37 kills and 20 errors off 99 total attacks (.172).
CSU will face the winner of Edward Waters and Fort Valley State in the second round of the SIAC tournament on Wednesday at 4 pm.
