Central State concludes New York road trip with loss to Daeman
AMHERST, New York - The Central State Marauders lost to Daemen, 3-0, on Saturday.
With the win, Daemen imrpoves to 9-2 overall while CSU drops to 1-10 on the season.
The Marauders fell behind 7-1 in the first set and never fully recovered in an eventual 25-20 loss.Â
With the score tied 5-5, Daemen scored the next 8 points. CSU cut the deficit down to three, 19-16, before Daemen scored three of the next four points and went on to a 25-19 win to take a 2-0 lead.
Daemen maintained momentum in the early stages of the third set going up 5-1. CSU battled back and pulled within one point of knotting the set twice. Facing match point while trailing 24-20, CSU scored the next two points before Henry Moffit recorded the final kill and the win for Daemen, 25-22.
CSU attackers combined for 26 kills and 20 errors on 72 attacks (.083) while Daemen recorded 29 kills and 12 errors on 64 attacks (.266).Â
Jake Couzens led Daemen with 8 kills along with two service aces.
McCraney was the offensive leader for CSU with 8 kills.
CSU begins conference play on March 4 at Fort Valley State.
