Marauders comeback attempt falls short in loss to Spring Hill
WILBERFORCE, Ohio - CSU nearly erased 13-point deficit late in Monday's game before ultimately falling to Spring Hill, 80-76.
With Spring Hill leading for the majority of the evening, CSU eventually fell behind 71-58 with 5:37 remaining in the game. CSU stormed back to cut the deficit down to one with a 10-0 run. CSU's
Jovon Jones layin brought the score to 71-70 with under three minutes to play. The teams traded baskets until a a Tana Kopa three-pointer put SHC up by four with 22 second left. CSU was never able to fully recover, missing their final two field goal attempts and converted just two of four free throws.Â
A difference in the game was the perimeter shooting of SHC. SHC shooters combined to make 10 of 24 three point attempts while CSU shooters made 3 of 19 attempts from three-point range.
Sam Davidson led the way for Spring Hill with a game-high 21 points. John Abate finished with 18 points. Kopa and Beril Kabamba each had 13 points in the win.
CSU was led by 16 points and eight rebounds from freshman
Marcus Steele.
Willie Jackson also scored 16 points coming off the bench.
Lavar Miller, Jr. added 11 points.
Dropping their third straight game, CSU fell to 6-12 overall and 4-9 in the SIAC. Spring Hill improved to 4-15 on the year and 3-9 in conference play.
