Late run propels Central State to 80-74 win over Albany State

WILBERFORCE, Ohio - A late 9-0 run propelled the Central State Marauders to a 80-74 win over Albany State on Wednesday night.

With the win, CSU improves to 5-7 overall with a 3-4 mark in SIAC play. ASU drops to 4-11 on the year with a 3-4 conference ledger.

Albany State relied heavily on the post play early on and outscored CSU, 30-16, in the paint in the first half to take a 39-33 advantage into halftime.
Trailing by seven, 63-56, with 7:17 to go, CSU guard
Kameron Ivory found a cutting
Jovon Jones for a dunk. Ivory did the scoring on CSU's next two possessions, knocking down a pair of free throws and a three-pointer to help tie the game up, 64-64. After another Ivory free throw at the 4:55 mark, CSU freshman
Lavar Miller scored the game's next seven points and
Marcus Steele converted in the paint to cap off a 9-0 run for the Marauders. Up 73-64 with 2 minutes to play, CSU knocked down seven of eight free throws attempts in the final 120 seconds.to seal the victory.
Miller made eight of 13 shots to lead all players with 29 points. Ivory finished with 20 points on a efficient 5-of-7 from the field and grabbed eight rebounds.
Raymon Adams added 16 points.Â
As a team, CSU shot over 50% from the field (26-51) and converted a season high 80% from the free throw line (20-25). With Miller and Ivory leading the scoring off the bench, the CSU reserves outscored the ASU backups, 56-10.
CSU travels to play Miles on Saturday at 3 pm.
