Turnovers plague Marauders in loss to Bluefield State

BLUEFIELD, West Virginia – The Central State Marauders suffered a 104-86 road loss to Bluefield State on Wednesday night.

The loss drops CSU to 3-3 overall while BSU earned its first victory while improving to 1-4 on the year.

BSU jumped out to a 9-1 lead and gradually built a 16-point lead by half. Down 20 by the 13 minute mark of the second half, CSU battled back with to cut the deficit to single digits. An 11-0 run by CSU brought the Marauder to within eight, 74-66, with 9:43 to play. A
Jovon Jones basket two minutes later cut the deficit down to six but that would be as close as CSU would get to the lead. BSU responded with a 7-0 run to go up by 13 with six minutes to go and maintained momentum to the finish with the 18 point win.

CSU committed a season-high 32 turnovers and were outscored in points off of giveaways, 36-17. CSU was an impressive 53% from the field (33-62) but struggled from the free throw line making 60.7% (17-28).

Raymon Adams made all ten of his shot attempts from the field to lead CSU's efforts with a game-high 27 points. Senior forward
Jovon Jones also was perfect from the field, going 6-for-6. Jones finished the night with a 14 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman guard
Marcus Steele added 12 points.

Five double-digit scorers led the way for BSU. Marquez Cooper finished with 23 points and Hirotaka Ohashi had 22 points in the win.
