Marauders lose at home to Savannah State

WILBERFORCE, Ohio – The Central State Marauders lost to Savannah State, 68-56, on Monday night

CSU fell to 3-4 on the season and 1-2 in SIAC play. SSU improved its record to 2-5 overall with a 1-1 mark in the conference.

With the score tied 34-34 at the start of the second half, SSU guard Marcus Scott caught fire from three-point range. Scott scored 20 of his game high 23 points in the second half, making six three pointers to propel his team to a double-digit lead with five minutes to go. SSU closed out the game by making eight straight free throws to claim the 12-point win.
With Scott leading the way, SSU made nine of 23 three-point shots (39.1%) while CSU shooters combined to make two of 12 attempts from beyond the arc (16.7%).Â
Marcus Steele led CSU offensively with 19 points along with four assists.
Raymon Adams added 13 points, seven rebounds and four assists. No other CSU player scored more than six points on Monday.
CSU is back on the road on Thursday at Benedict College.
