Lady Marauders win two of three matches at SIAC West Division Round-Up
MOBILE, Alabama - The Central State Lady Marauders won two of three matches over the weekend at the SIAC West Division Round-Up.
The Lady Marauders cruised to three-set victories over Miles and Tuskegee before losing a four-set match to Spring Hill.
In Friday's match against Miles, CSU won with scores of 25-10, 25-7 and 25-14 to sweep the regular season series with the Golden Bears. CSU freshman
Hailey White was the best offensive player on the floor, recording a match-high 13 kills with a season-high .667 hitting percentage. As a team, CSU recorded 39 kills and 12 service aces while only committing 12 errors.
Kayla Adams facilitated the CSU attack with 33 assists.
Cristina Reyes led CSU's defensive efforts with 18 digs.
CSU carried momentum into Saturday morning's matchup against Tuskegee. CSU coasted to victory with wins of 25-14, 25-12 and 25-14).Â
Ajanae' Cressey led all players w/ 14 kills as CSU recorded its tenth conference victory of the season.
In an eventual four-set loss to perennial SIAC power Spring Hill, CSU took the first set 25-22. Spring Hill, who served as the site host of this weekend's SIAC matches, bounced back with wins of 25-21, 25-18 and 25-17 to take the match while remaining undefeated in SIAC play with a 15-0 record. Currently at 14-6 overall with a 10-2 conference record, Central State will return home to host Lane and Kentucky State this Friday.
NOTES:
CSU has earned 10 conference victories for the first time in program history.
With Friday's .667 hitting percentage, CSU freshman Hailey white recorded back-to-back matches of .600+ hitting percentages.
Despite the loss, CSU recorded its first set victory over Spring Hill since joining the SIAC in 2015.
