Brown scores season-high 27 as CSU downs Lane, 88-79

Harris Brown scored 18 of his game-high 27 points in the first half as the Central State Marauders handled Lane College, 88-79, on Monday night.

With the win CSU climbs back to .500 with an 8-8 record and improve to 5-4 in SIAC play. LC falls to 7-10 on the year with a 3-6 conference record.

Harris Brown made six of nine shots in the first 20 minutes of play and the Marauders closed the first half out on a 11-4 run capped off by a
Bishop James three-pointer as time expired to go in the locker room with a 44-34 lead.

CSU maintained momentum in the second half. A dunk by
Jovon Jones and a three-pointer by Brown helped CSU extend its lead to 18 by the 4:27 mark. With CSU going to its reserves in the final two minutes of play, LC closed the game on a 9-0 run to narrow the deficit down to nine before the Marauders dribbled the ball out for the victory.

CSU shot a season-best 57.9% (33-57) from the field and held a 36-26 edge in points in the paint. Every CSU player who logged minutes recorded three or more points.

In addition to his new season-high of 27 points, Brown also distributed seven assists and grabbed five rebounds. Forward
Dreon Lewis added 14 points and five rebounds.
Keandre Graves scored 11 and
Tom Johnson flirted with a triple-double with nine points, nine assists and nine rebounds.

Tyler Henry led Lane's efforts with 21 points.
