Lady Marauders come in seventh at SIAC Championships; record 10 Top Ten performances

ROCK HILL, South Carolina – The Central State University women's track and field team recorded 10 performances placing in the top ten at this weekend's SIAC Championship.

Krystal Mitchell, who was named All-SIAC prior to this weekend's competition, finished second in the 100 meter dash (12.31) and fourth in the 200 meter dash (26.13).

The CSU women finished strong in the hurdle events as
Ayanna O'Neal picked up a second place finish in the 100 meter hurdles (14.62) and a third place result in the 400 meter hurdles (1:05.11). Senior
Iesha Lockhart finished just behind O'Neal in the 400 meter hurdles, coming in fourth place (1:06.08).
Alexis Anderson also picked up points for CSU by finishing in seventh in the 100 meter hurdles (16.28).

In field events, CSU picked up points in the triple jump thanks to a fourth place performance from
Akaila Howard (10.43m) and Amaya Howard's 10
th place finish (9.72m).

The CSU 4 x 100 meter relay team of O'Neal, Mitchell,
Denise Munday and
Jordan Saffold finished in second (47.49), while the 4 x 400 meter relay team consisting of Lockhart, Mitchell, O'Neal and Saffold came in third (4:06.40).

As a team, the Lady Marauders finished seventh in this year's championship field with a total of 55 points.

Members of the CSU track and field team will turn their focus towards this week's Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Penn Relays will begin this Thursday and conclude on Saturday. For event details, visit -
