Central State track & field team travels to Michigan to compete against top competition

ALLENDALE, Michigan - The Central State University track & field team will travel to Allendale, Michigan this weekend to compete in meets hosted by Grand Valley State University

GVSU hosts Big Meet-Friday, on Friday (Feb. 9) and Big Meet-Saturday, on Saturday (Feb. 10). The meets will officially be scored separately.
 
The Big Meets will be the largest indoor meet CSU has competed in up to this point in the season. The field features several Divi. I programs as well as top talent in Div. II. Friday's meet will begin at 10 am with the 5,000 meter race as the first event, while the field events will commence at 12 pm. Saturday's meet starts at 9 am with field events followed by the track events at 10 am.

Juan Scott leads a CSU men's program that currently sits just outside the Top 25 USTFCCCA Div. II National Poll. Scott has already qualified for next month's NCAA Div. II Indoor National Championships  while posting the nation's best time in Div. II of 7.85 seconds in the 60 meter hurdles. He posted three wins in the 60 meter hurdles thus far. The men's 4x400 team consisting of Scott, JaVonte Brown, Isreal Williamson and Baron Wilson will attempt to increase their chances of qualifying for nationals while improving on a pace of 3.17.88.

On the women's side, Iesha Lockhart, Mysia Wallace and Krystal Mitchell have led an up and coming Lady Marauder track team. Lockhart and Mitchell tied for first in the 300 meter dash in a December meet at Findlay University. In the last two meets, Lockhart has run in the 400 meter dash and hopes to improve on her season best time of 1:00.66. Mitchell has been CSU's best in the 60 meter dash and 200 meter dash. Her times of 7.72 in the 60m and 26.03 in the 200m at last week's SPIRE Invitational are her best times of the year.
