Glaspie's career-night helps Marauders sail past Savannah State

Glaspie's career night helps CSU cruise to 85-68 win over Savannah State
 

SAVANNAH, Georgia – The Central State Marauders cruised to a 85-68 road over Savannah State behind forward Quinton Glaspie's career-high 22 points.
 
 
With the win, CSU improves to 4-2 overall with a 1-0 mark in the SIAC. SSU falls to 1-3 overall with a 1-1 ledger in conference play.
 
 
CSU opened the game by hitting seven of its first nine shot attempts to jump out to a 17-6 lead. SSU cut the deficit down to five with a minute left in the opening half before CSU's Theo Howard hit from beyond the arc to give CSU a 39-31 lead at the break.
 
 
CSU took control with a 16-4 run capped of by a Glaspie basket to give the Marauders a 55-35 lead with 14:26 to play. CSU maintained the pace, leading by as many as 26 and cruising to their third straight victory.



Glaspie's career-high 22 points came on a 10 for 17 shooting performance. The junior from Detroit, Michigan also grabbed a season-high 13 rebounds. Freshman Darweshi Hunter had another efficient night from the field, making seven of 13 shots for 19 points along with 11 rebounds. Keandre Graves was three of six from three-point range and finished with 11 points. Tom Johnson recorded a season-high 11 assists to go along with 10 points and seven rebounds.
 
 
Adrian Bonds led the SSU effort with 17 points and eight rebounds.
 
As a team, CSU made 31 of 66 field goal attempts (42.9%) compared to SSU's 21 for 64 performance (32.8%).


 
The Marauders continue conference play on Wednesday at Fort Valley State.

Glaspie's 13 rebounds is the most by any Marauder this season.

CSU made a season-high 12 three-pointers on Monday.
 
 
CSU rebounders combined to grab a season-high 51 rebounds.


CSU senior guard Tom Johnson is third among all active players in NCAA Div. II in career steals with 185.


 
Johnson finished with a season-high 11 assists on Monday,


 
10 players scored for CSU in Monday night's victory.
