Lane rolls past Central State, 36-10

JACKSON, Tennessee – The Central State Marauders lost to the Dragons of Lane College on Saturday, 36-10.

Lane outgained Central State by 267 yards (446-179) on their way to improving to 3-6 overall and 1-4 in SIAC play. CSU falls to 3-6 on the season with a 2-3 mark in the conference.

The Dragon defense opened the scoring as Brayce McKinzie and James Williams dragged down CSU quarterback
Derell Williams in the end zone for the safety at the 7:27 mark of the first quarter (LC 2-0).

LC extended the lead with a 91 yard touchdown drive capped off by a 7-yard toss from Tarik McKinzie to Darren Clarke with 8:47 remaining the half (LC 9-0).

CSU responded on the next drive with a 25-yard field goal from freshman kicker
Joshua Nunes (LC 9-3).

LC added to its lead before the end of the half as McKinzie found an open Anthony Evelyn for a 12-yard touchdown pass with 17 seconds remaining (LC 15-3).

With 5:37 left in the third quarter, LC seized all momentum when McKinzie found a streaking Evelyn down the sidelines for an 84-yard score (LC 22-3).

The Dragons scored on their first drive of the fourth quarter as big runs from Kingston Davis set up a short two yard touchdown pass from McKinzie to Kejuan Thomas with 14:01 remaining (LC 29-3).

CSU's only touchdown of the afternoon came when Williams connected with
Dalane Brown II for a 23-yard score with 3:58 to play (LC 29-10).

LC extended its lead back to 26 by running the ball seven straight times as Davis ended the drive with a 3-yard run into the endzone (LC 36-10).
