Central State unable to keep up in 77-61 loss at Christian Brothers
 

MEMPHIS, Tennessee – The Central State Marauders were unable to keep pace with Cristian Brothers, losing 77-61 on Sunday.
 
 
With the loss, CSU is now 1-1 after the opening weekend of the season. CBU improves to 1-1 as the team's split the home-and-home series.
 
 
CBU opened the game on a 11-2 run and were in full control at half with a lead of 44-25. CBU led by as many as 26 in the second half and cruised to the 16-point victory.
 
 
CBU outscored CSU, 46-24, in the paint and held a 22-11 edge in points off turnovers.


 
CSU was paced by freshman Darweshi Hunter's 22 points and 10 rebounds. Senior Tom Johnson added 14 points and five rebounds.
 
 
Every CBU player who played in the game scored. Daryl Lewis led CBU with 17 points and seven rebounds.
 
 
CSU will return home to face Cedarville University on Thursday at 7:30 pm.

In his first two games at CSU, freshman Darweshi Hunter has led CSU in scoring with 15 points on Friday and 22 points on Sunday.
 
 
With Friday's result, CBU now holds a 6-3 edge in the all-time series which dates back to 2001.
 
 
CSU will face Cedarville for the first time since the 2016-17 season. With both campuses located within Greene County, the schools are separated by just 5.4 miles.
 
 
CSU holds a 30-17 edge over Cedarville in the all-time series.
