David Brumagen enters his first season as the Assistant Defensive Line Coach for the Central State Marauders with over 15 years of coaching experience across the NAIA, NJCAA, NCAA Division III, and multiple professional indoor football leagues.
Most recently, Brumagen served as the Defensive Line Coach and Run Game Coordinator at Judson University (NAIA) in Elgin, Illinois, following a similar role at Peru State College (NE). His coaching resume also includes stops at Graceland University, Hocking College, and Illinois College, where he helped guide a defense that led NCAA Division III in tackles for loss in 2023. He has coached numerous all-conference and all-district defensive linemen and brings a relentless approach to player development and defensive front play.
Brumagen’s professional coaching background is extensive, including stints in the Indoor Football League (IFL), United Football League (UFL), and Champions Indoor Football (CIF). He has served in various capacities, including Head Coach, Defensive Coordinator, Special Teams Coordinator, and Player Personnel Director. As Head Coach of the Council Bluffs Express, he led the team to a championship game appearance after taking over mid-season.
Brumagen is committed to teaching the fundamentals of defensive line play, emphasizing technique, toughness, and discipline. His participation in elite coaching events such as the Maxx Crosby Sack Summit and the Brandon Burlsworth Camps reflects his continuous pursuit of growth and excellence in coaching.
A native of Hudson Falls, New York, Brumagen was a standout all-conference running back and kicker. He was a recruited walk-on at the University of Nebraska, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. He is a proud member of the American Football Coaches Association and is actively involved with several community and national service organizations.
