Colby Brown, Sr. has served as the defensive backs coach at Central State University since May of 2022.
Prior To Central State , Brown spent time coaching defensive backs at South Carolina State.
Coaching through the Covid-19 pandemic, Brown's 2020 football season at SCSU was cancelled. Returning to practice and activity in the Spring of 2021, the Bulldogs played in four games and finished with a record of 3-1. Under Brown's guidance, the SCSU secondary ranked among the top defensive units in FCS during the spring season with a total of eight interceptions and 24 pass breakups. Brown was also a part of the development in Decobie Durant, who was drafted in the fourth round of the NFL Draft by the Los Angeles Rams.
Prior to South Carolina State, Brown had coaching stints at Mercer University (defensive quality control & safeties) in 2019, Landmark Christian High School (defensive backs) in 2018, University of Cincinnati (Intern) in 2017 and Richwoods High School (defensive backs/wide receivers) in 2016.
A former standout athlete, Brown Sr., earned All-NJCAA honors as a cornerback at Highland Community College (2010-12) where he amassed a career total 70 tackles, five interceptions, and 22 pass breakouts in two seasons. He then went on to play for Skip Holtz at Louisiana Tech from 2012-14 where he finished with 30 tackles, two interceptions and five pass breakups during his senior season.
The College Park native, is a 2015 graduate from Louisiana Tech with a Bachelors degree in Sociology.
