Central State Sweeps SIAC Weekly Honors Across Men’s Volleyball and Women’s Track & Field

WILBERFORCE, Ohio — Central State University delivered an epic week of performances across multiple programs, earning a clean sweep of weekly honors from the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in men's volleyball and women's track and field.

The week was highlighted by standout individual performances and strong team results in both sports.


WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD

Central State posted an impressive second-place team finish at University of Charleston, fueled by dominant performances on the track and in the field.

Graduate student Jurnie Hemsley was named SIAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week following a standout all-around effort. Hemsley captured first place in the 400 meters with a time of 57.60 and played a key role in the Marauders' first-place 4x400-meter relay team, helping secure a decisive victory by nearly six seconds. She also added a third-place finish in the 200 meters (25.48), contributing valuable points across multiple events.

Junior Ashyia Maddickes earned SIAC Women's Field Athlete of the Week honors after an impressive showing in the horizontal jumps. Maddickes won the triple jump with a mark of 11.44 meters (37' 6.5") and placed third in the long jump with a mark of 5.42 meters (17' 9.5"). Her multi-event scoring played a critical role in the team's overall success.


MEN'S VOLLEYBALL

The Central State men's volleyball team recorded a 2–0 week on the road at Benedict College, with all three major SIAC weekly awards going to Marauder student-athletes.

Junior outside hitter Jaedyn Harris was named SIAC Offensive Player of the Week after totaling 36 kills across two matches, including 22 in the second contest. Harris averaged 4.00 kills per set while posting a .371 hitting percentage, finishing the week with 43.5 total points and six service aces.

Senior libero Benjamin Latham earned Defensive Player of the Week honors, anchoring the Marauders with 38 digs (4.22 per set). Latham recorded 16 digs in the opening match and followed with 22 in the second, while also contributing seven assists and posting a flawless serve-receive performance in match two.

Sophomore setter Christopher Demetriou was named SIAC Setter of the Week after totaling 104 assists (11.56 per set) across the two matches. His 68-assist performance in the second match set a new SIAC season high, as he directed the offense to team hitting percentages of .301 and .388. Demetriou also added four service aces, nine digs, and three blocks.
