Marauders Open Season with Sweep Over Wilberforce
Wilberforce, OH – September 5, 2025 — Central State volleyball opened the 2025 season in dominating fashion with a 3–0 sweep over rival Wilberforce University on Friday night. The Marauders (1-0) controlled the match from start to finish, winning by set scores of 25-15, 25-15, 25-11.
Offensive Efficiency Leads the Way
CSU attacked at an impressive .424 clip as a team, finishing with 33 kills compared to Wilberforce's 16.

Zahra Coates powered the offense with a match-high 11 kills on .348 hitting.

Braelynn Reese added 9 kills with an outstanding .643 percentage while also contributing two blocks.

Maya Hendricks chipped in 5 kills and a team-leading 3 service aces to go along with 8 digs.
Setter Nia McGhee directed the offense with 10 assists, while Azariah Crosby (6 assists, 2 aces) and Brooke Morris (5 assists) provided key support.
Serving Pressure and Balanced Defense
The Marauders' aggressive serving kept Wilberforce off balance, finishing with 10 aces. Along with Hendricks' three, Amasjah Gillings and Crosby each tallied two.
Defensively, Central State out-dug Wilberforce 37–24, with Hendricks and Johanna Holston leading the way at 8 digs apiece. Reese and McGhee added two blocks each to pace CSU at the net.
