Central State Men's Golf Posts Strong Finish at the Stateline Shootout
CINCINNATI, OH – September 27-28, 2025 – Central State University men's golf continued its fall campaign with a solid performance at the Stateline Shootout hosted by Mount St. Joseph University, finishing tied for fifth place in a competitive 16-team field.
Team Performance
The Marauders posted rounds of +15 in the opening round and +24 in round two to close at +39 overall, matching Franklin College and Asbury University on the team leaderboard. Shenandoah University took the team title at +15, followed by Pitt-Greensburg (+30) and Maryville College (+36).
Individual Highlights
Leading the way for CSU was Felipe Guido, who delivered two steady rounds (+1, +2) to finish at +3 overall, tying for 6th place individually. Guido's performance marked one of the top single-player finishes of the tournament and continues his impressive stretch of play this fall.
Close behind was Corey Lynn Patton Jr., who posted back-to-back rounds of +1 and +3 to close at +4 overall, tying for 8th place. Patton Jr., last season's top scorer for the Marauders, once again showed his ability to compete at the top of the leaderboard.
Freshman Michael Halleg followed with a +12 finish (T-29th), recording a strong +5 in his second round after opening with +7. Christian Collins carded rounds of +6 and +14 to finish at +20 (T-60th), while Joshua Fiery closed at +27 (T-76th).
Building Momentum
The balanced effort from Guido and Patton Jr. at the top of the lineup highlighted the growth of CSU's young program, now in its second season under Head Coach William Ware. The Marauders' ability to place two golfers inside the top 10 reflects both depth and potential as they continue through the fall schedule.
Final Thoughts
With a team tie for fifth and two top-10 individual finishes, Central State showcased its competitiveness in the region. As the season progresses, the Marauders will look to build on this momentum, sharpen consistency across the lineup, and continue to establish themselves as a rising program within the SIAC and beyond. Notably the Marauders have now beat their program best team score each week this fall and look to continue to progress and position themselves as a contender for the SIAC title.
