Marauders Sweep Talladega at Beacom/Lewis Gym

WILBERFORCE, Ohio – September 20, 2025 — Central State volleyball put together a dominant performance on Saturday afternoon, sweeping Talladega College, 3–0, inside Beacom/Lewis Gymnasium. The Marauders won by scores of 25–23, 25–9, and 25–16 to improve to 3–2 on the season.

Strong Opening, Statement Finish

The Marauders had to battle early, as Talladega came out sharp in the first set hitting .417. Behind the steady hitting of Braelynn Reese and timely defense, CSU edged out a 25–23 win. From there, it was all Marauders. Central State rolled in the second set, limiting Talladega to a -.261 hitting percentage while hitting .263 themselves. The momentum carried into the third frame, where the Marauders closed out the match with a 25–16 victory.

Balanced Team Attack

CSU spread the offensive production across the lineup.

  • Reese led the way with 10 kills and added two blocks.

  • Zahra Coates recorded nine kills, three aces, and seven digs in a standout two-way effort.

  • Maya Hendricks chipped in eight kills and three aces.

The Marauders' serving pressure was key, finishing with 12 aces on the afternoon. Brooke Morris sparked the offense with 14 assists and four aces, while Nevaeh Brownlee added 12 assists of her own.

Defensively, Central State controlled the net with five blocks and matched Talladega in digs, 30–32, despite the shorter match. Johanna Holston and Hendricks provided stability in the back row with a combined 11 digs.
