Marauders Catch Fire from Deep, Roll Past Allen

Marauders Catch Fire From Deep, Roll Past Allen 99–75

WILBERFORCE, OH — Central State Men's Basketball lit up Beacom/Lewis Gym on Saturday afternoon, knocking down 18 three-pointers and exploding for a 99–75 win over Allen University in SIAC play. With the victory, the Marauders improve to 3–2 overall and 2–1 in conference play, showcasing one of their most complete offensive performances of the young season.

A First-Half Shootout Turns Into a Second-Half Breakaway

The opening twenty minutes were a track meet. Both teams traded blows and led six different times, with the Marauders holding a narrow 48–43 edge at halftime. But once CSU settled into its rhythm, the game flipped.

The second half belonged entirely to Central State. The Marauders buried eight threes after the break, turned defense into offense, and overwhelmed Allen with depth, pace, and relentless ball movement.

Keionte Cornelius Steals the Show

No one had a hotter hand than Keionte Cornelius, who delivered a career-level performance:

  • 26 points

  • 7-of-9 from three

  • Perfect spacing and shot-making that changed the entire flow of the game

Cornelius' shooting stretched Allen's defense thin—and every time they adjusted, another Marauder made them pay.

Balanced Attack, Relentless Depth

Central State's bench delivered a staggering 72 bench points, proving once again that this roster is built on depth, versatility, and unselfish play.

In the starting lineup, Emanuel Henriques chipped in 11 points and 6 rebounds, while Javantae Randle anchored the paint with 10 points and 4 boards.

Defense Fuels the Offense

While the shooting grabbed the headlines, CSU's defensive pressure was just as important. The Marauders forced 16 Allen turnovers, turning them into 19 points and sparking multiple runs that blew the game open.

Closing the Door

Once Central State pushed the lead into double digits early in the second half, Allen never recovered. The Marauders controlled the glass (35–30), shared the ball with 24 assists, and kept their foot on the gas until the final horn.

Next Up

The Marauders take a trip to Pittsburgh, PA to take on DI Duquesne University on Wednesday.
