Central State Marauders football put together one of its most productive offensive performances of the season on Saturday afternoon but ultimately came up short in a hard-fought matchup against Kentucky Christian Knights football. The game featured explosive plays on both sides of the ball, with the Knights pulling away late behind a high-powered passing attack.  The Marauders battled back after falling behind 28-0 but eventually fell short.  

Explosive Start Through the Air

Senior quarterback Qeanu Campbell-Caldwell led the Marauder offense with precision and poise, throwing for 304 yards and two touchdowns on 14-of-27 passing. His biggest strike came midway through the first half — a 75-yard touchdown connection with Dai'Vontay Young that electrified the home crowd. Young's speed down the sideline provided the spark the Marauders needed to stay within striking distance.

The air attack didn't stop there. Justin Sellers added another touchdown reception on a 44-yard strike in the second half, while Latrell Snow hauled in three catches for 93 yards to keep the chains moving.

Balanced Rushing Attack

On the ground, the Marauders found contributions from multiple backs. Young added a rushing touchdown, and Kenyon Gardner, Donaiz Barker, and Jaden Bossie each chipped in key carries to help CSU finish with 108 net rushing yards on 38 attempts. The balanced approach kept the Knights defense honest, opening opportunities downfield for the passing game.

Defensive Standouts

Despite facing one of the top passing offenses in the NAIA, the CSU defense produced several big plays. Domonique Davis II anchored the defensive front with nine tackles, a sack, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery. Travis Davis also recorded nine tackles, while Trei'Shaun Sanders made a momentum-shifting interception to stall a KCU drive.
