Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Marauders win 3rd game in a Row with Route of Simmons

The Central State Marauders earned a convincing 75-57 win over the Simmons University Falcons in a dominant performance on January 29, 2025, at the St. Stephens Family Life Center. Central State maintained control from the opening whistle, never allowing the lead to change hands.

The Marauders came out strong, leading 39-24 at halftime, fueled by impressive shooting and balanced scoring. Brandon Scott led the charge with 17 points, including five three-pointers, while Ramar Pryor added 12 points, contributing four of six from the free-throw line. Javantae Randle also had a solid performance, scoring eight points and pulling down six rebounds.

Simmons struggled throughout the game, particularly in the first half where they shot just 31% from the field. The Falcons were unable to recover in the second half, despite a slightly improved shooting percentage. Jaden Schooler led Simmons with 11 points, but the team's shooting woes — 30.6% overall and 27.8% from beyond the arc — kept them from mounting a significant comeback.

Central State's defense also proved tough, as they limited Simmons to just 57 points and dominated in the paint, scoring 32 points inside. The Marauders' depth came into play, with their bench contributing 28 points, ensuring that the game was never in doubt.

While Simmons did manage to chip away at the lead in the second half, Central State's offense and defense were simply too much. The Marauders finished with a 28-point lead at their largest advantage, cruising to a comfortable victory. Central State shot 45% from the field overall, including 38.1% from three, and capitalized on 10 points off turnovers.

With this win, Central State improves to 10-10 on the season as they head into the critical portion of the season, looking to position themselves for a postseason berth. The Marauders head to rivals KSU on Saturday at 4pm for an important SIAC matchup.
