Central State University's men's volleyball team faced off against Purdue Fort Wayne in a four-set match at the Gates Sports Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The Marauders, still looking for their first win of the season, fell to Purdue Fort Wayne 3-1. The set scores were 18-25, 25-23, 14-25, and 20-25.
In the first set, Central State struggled to find their rhythm, allowing Purdue Fort Wayne to pull away with a 25-18 win. The Marauders bounced back in the second set, with a strong performance that saw them edge out a 25-23 victory, thanks in part to key contributions from Tyrone Sands, who led the team with 16 kills, and Jaedyn Harris, who added two aces.
However, Purdue Fort Wayne regained control in the third and fourth sets, winning 25-14 and 25-20, respectively.Â
For the Marauders statistical standouts Tyrone Sands with 16 kills,Bradley Patrick led the team in assists with 32, while Benjamin Latham also had a standout defensive performance with 13 digs, at the net Simon Falayi and Quad Williams led the Marauders with 4 blocks each.Â
Overall, Central State showed resilience, especially in their competitive second set, but ultimately couldn't overcome Purdue Fort Wayne's well-rounded attack and efficient play. The Marauders will look to regroup as they continue their season, with their next match scheduled for 1/14 at Thomas More. Â
