Marauders Go 2-0 to Start SIAC Play

Central State Comes Up Big In Opening Day of SIAC Play with Two Wins

Albany, GA – Central State University had a successful start to their Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) campaign, going 2-0 on Day One. The Marauders first faced off against Allen University, securing a convincing 3-1 victory, before battling Albany State University in a tightly contested match that ended 3-2.

Match 1: Central State vs. Allen

Final Score: Central State 3, Allen 1 (25-20, 20-25, 25-16, 25-23)

In their first match of the day, Central State showcased their resilience against Allen. Despite dropping the second set, the Marauders bounced back, demonstrating strong teamwork and offensive power. Central State recorded 42 kills, with Zahra Coates leading the charge with 13 kills. The team's defense was solid, collecting 50 digs, highlighted by Alyvia Eide's impressive 14 digs.

The Marauders displayed a balanced attack and effective serving throughout the match, ultimately claiming their first SIAC win of the season.


Match 2: Central State vs. Albany State

Final Score: Central State 3, Albany State 2 (25-19, 16-25, 13-25, 25-20, 15-12)

In a thrilling five-set encounter, Central State faced off against Albany State, proving their mettle once again. After dropping the second and third sets, Central State rallied to take the fourth and a tense fifth set. Key performances included Braelynn Reese, who delivered 11 kills and showcased a powerful presence at the net.

Despite Albany State's strong performance in the middle sets, Central State's tenacity shone through as they regrouped to clinch the match. The Marauders' ability to adapt and perform under pressure was evident, particularly in the deciding fifth set, where they maintained composure and executed crucial plays to seal the victory.
