Marauders extend winning streak to four with successful weekend in Michigan


ADRIAN, Michigan - The Central State University men's volleyball team won matches against Adrian College, Thiel University and Marantha Baptist University over the weekend.


Extending their winning streak to four matches, CSU is now 7-10 overall as they prepare to begin conference play next week.


CSU beat Adrian on Friday in four sets. The Marauders opened the match with a 25-14 win in set one and a 26-24 victory in set two. After dropping the third set, 25-19, CSU closed out the match with a 25-11 win in the fourth. Cameron Lee led CSU with 17 kills. Alain Tamo-Noche recorded 5 blocks and Carlos Pinto had 32 assists.


CSU won in similar fashion against Thiel on Saturday, taking the first, second and fourth sets with scores of 25-19, 25-18 and 25-20. Tyrone Sands led the Marauder offense with 13 kills. Carlos Pinto led the team in assists with 37 and digs with 18. D'Aaron McCraney tied a season-high with eight blocks.


In the final match of the weekend, the Marauders beat Marantha Baptist in three sets with scores of 25-15, 25-13 and 25-10. McCraney led the attack with nine kills. Pinto had 13 assists and six digs.


CSU begins SIAC play at Edward Waters on Thursday.
