FRANKFORT, Kentucky – CSU fell victim to a last second bank shot in regulation and eventually fell in overtime to rival Kentucky State, 83-79, on Saturday.

 
The loss drops CSU to 9-13 overall and 8-9 in the SIAC. KSU improves to 14-9 on the year and 10-6 in the conference.

 
Playing inside a sold out Exum Center, CSU fell behind by double digits early. The Lady Marauders trailed 20-10 at the end of the first quarter and were down as many as 12 midway through the second quarter. CSU sophomore Layla Turner provided a spark with a quick eight points off the bench in the second period while Diamond Phillips knocked down a three-pointer as the first half came to an end to pull the Lady Marauders within two, 39-37.

 
Phillips scored the first five points of the second half as CSU claimed its first lead of the ballgame, 61-60. The teams swapped the lead for much of the second half. The margin remained tight down the stretch. CSU appeared to be in control of the game after coming up with a defensive stop as Phillips took a charge with four seconds to play in regulation. After two Dashanti Miller free throws, CSU led 71-68 with four seconds left on the clock. After a timeout, KSU tied the contest as a Taleah Dilworth three-pointer banged off the top of the glass and went in with 0.2 seconds left on the clock. CSU's Kailyn Nash made a basket on the other end but was unable to get the shot off in time as the teams prepared for overtime.

 
KSU managed to get to the line nine times in the overtime period and converted every attempt. Jasmine Elder added two field goals as KSU went on to beat CSU, 83-79.

 
Kailyn Nash led CSU with an impressive 22 points, 15 rebounds and five blocks. KSU was paced by Taleah Dilworth's 21 points.

 
CSU will return home to play Wilberforce on Tuesday night.

With Saturday's result, CSU is now 44-34 in the all-time series with KSU. KSU has won the last four games.

 
Nash recorded her seventh double-double of the season.

 
Nash, who leads the SIAC in blocked shots, recorded her 15th multi-block game of the year.

 
Miller finished with 13 points and 13 rebounds to record her second double-double of the week.


CSU lost to KSU in January by one-point, 75-74.
