Central State opens season against Winston-Salem State at the Black College Football Hall of Fame Classic
   

WILBERFORCE, Ohio -- The Central State Marauders will open the 2022 football season on Sunday, Sept. 4 against CIAA opponent Winston-Salem University in the Black College Football Hall of Fame Classic.



Central State head coach Kevin Porter, who enters his first season as the Marauders' head coach, expressed his team's excitement heading into the opening game of the season/


"It is an incredible opportunity for our University. To be able to play in this game creates a tremendous level of exposure and enthusiasm for Marauder football. I am excited for our student-athletes to represent Central State University while being able to showcase their talents in a historic venue and on national television."
 

Held at the Pro Football Hall of Fame's Tom Benson Stadium in Canton, Ohio, the game will be shown live on NFL Network with kickoff scheduled for 4 pm.
 

The game is an annual event featuring two HBCU teams playing on Labor Day Weekend. In addition to the action on the field, the weekend is filled with exhilarating fun, tailgating, music and other entertainment. The Black College Football Hall of Fame, which was founded in 2009 by two legendary NFL quarterbacks and African American pioneers, is currently housed inside the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton. Among those inducted into the BCHOF include Central State legendary coach Billy Joe, defensive end Hugh Douglas and offensive lineman Erik Williams.
