Central State releases 2022 football schedule

WILBERFORCE, Ohio -- The Central State University athletic department is pleased to announce the 2022 football schedule which features five home games and an appearance in the Black College Football Hall of Fame Classic.

Entering the 2022 campaign under the leadership of new head coach Kevin Porter, the Marauders will kick off the season on Sunday, Sept. 4 against CIAA opponent Winston-Salem University in the Black College Football Hall of Fame Classic. The game will be held at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio with kickoff scheduled for 4 pm.

CSU returns home to play another CIAA member in Lincoln University (PA) on Saturday, Sept. 10 followed by a West Virginia road trip to play at Bluefield State College on Sept. 17.

CSU opens up conference play at home on Sept. 24 against SIAC West Division champion Miles College. Entering their second year in the SIAC, Allen University hosts the Marauders on Oct. 1.

CSU's homecoming takes play on Sat. Oct. 8 when the Marauders play conference opponent Fort Valley State University. The Marauders continue conference play when they head to Alabama to take on Tuskegee University on Oct. 15.

Edward Waters University, who also enters its second season as an SIAC member, travels from Florida to Ohio to face the Marauders on Oct. 22.

CSU's final regular season road trip will be on Oct. 29 at Lane College. The regular season concludes on Nov. 5 when CSU hosts rival Kentucky State University on Senior Day.

All Central State University home games are scheduled to kickoff at 1 pm. Additional kickoff times for away games will be announced later this spring. Ticket sales for all home CSU football games will begin on April 1.

Fans can get a preview of the 2022 Marauder football team on April 30 at 1 pm in McPherson Memorial Stadium when the program hosts it's Spring Football Showcase.

WINSTON-SALEM

LINCOLN (PA)

Lost to CSU last season, 19-7

BLUEFIELD STATE
SEPT. 17 | BLUEFIELD, WEST VIRGINIA

Finished with 4-3 overall record last season.
Competes as an NCAA Div. II independent institution.
CSU and Bluefield State have played six times. CSU is 5-1 in the all-time series.
The last meeting between the two schools was during the 1960 season.

MILES
SEPT. 24 | 1 PM | WILBERFORCE, OHIO

Finished last season with an overall record of 6-5.
Won the SIAC West Division title in 2021.
MC is 6-2 against CSU since the Marauders joined the SIAC.
MC enters season under new head coach Sam Shade.

ALLEN (SC)
OCT. 1 | BLYTHEWOOD, SOUTH CAROLINA

Joined the SIAC last season.
Finished 4-5 in 2021.
Allen beat CSU last year, 46-34.

FORT VALLEY STATE
OCT. 8 | 1 PM | WILBERFORCE, OHIO | HOMECOMING

Finished with 5-5 overall record and 3-3 in conference play.
Member of the SIAC East Division.
CSU is 6-6 in the all-time series against FVSU dating back to the 1972 season.
Shawn Gibbs enters first season as FVSU's head coach.

TUSKEGEE
OCT. 15 | TUSKEGEE, ALABAMA

TU finished 2021 with a 3-8 overall record and 2-4 in conference play.
Holds 8-3 edge against CSU in the all-time series.
Member of SIAC West Division.
Enters season under new head coach Reginald Ruffin. Ruffin previously coached at Miles College.

EDWARD WATERS
OCT. 22 | 1 PM | WILBERFORCE, OHIO

Edward Waters enters its second season as an SIAC member.
Campus located in Jacksonville, Florida.
CSU is 1-1 against EWU with games played in 2019 and 2021.
Toriana Morgan enters his second season as EWU's head coach.

LANE
OCT. 29 | JACKSON, TENNESSEE

Member of the SIAC West Division
Finished the 2021 season with a 6-4 overall record and 3-3 in the SIAC.
Beat CSU, 16-14, last season.
CSU holds 8-4 advantage in all-time series against LC which dates back to the 1973 season.

KENTUCKY STATE
NOV. 5 | 1 PM | WILBERFORCE, OHIO

Member of SIAC West Division
Finished with 7-4 record and a 4-2 conference mark in 2021.
Beat CSU twice in 2021 (Aug. 28, Nov. 6).
KSU will enter 2022 with a new head coach.
CSU leads the all-time series with KSU, 36-25-1 dating back to the 1947 season.
