Box Score Shorthanded Marauders fall to Clark Atlanta in first round of SIAC Tournament
ROCK HILL, South Carolina - The Central State Marauders season came to an end in the first round of the SIAC Tournament on Monday in a 79-64 loss to Clark Atlanta.
Entering the game with only six active players, CSU's rotation, or lack therof, was shortened up when
Dustin Davis went down with an injury midway through the first half. With five guards left to play on the CSU side, CAU used its size down low to outrebound CSU, 26-13, in the first half to take a 40-30 lead at halftime.
Despite CSU's lack of reserves, the Marauders continued to battle and came within 4 points with under 10 minutes to play before CAU regained momentum on it's way to shooting over 50% in the second half and cruising to the eventual 15-point win.
With the CSU post players inactive, CAU held a 50 to 29 advantage in rebounding which included 18 offensive rebounds. CAU converted 35 of 70 shot attempts (50%) while CSU made 25 of 67 shots (37.3%).
Chris Martin led CAU with 17 points, 10 rebounds and six assists. Justin Longstreet also finished with 17 points for CAU along with seven rebounds.
CSU was led by
Willie Jackson's 23 points and five assists.
Marcus Steele had 17 points, seven assists and five steals.
Lavar Miller, Jr. added 11 points.
CSU finishes the season with a 6-20 overall record. CAU advances to play LeMoyne-Owen on Tuesday at noon.
