Tere leads Central State to 88-75 win over Miles
WILBERFORCE, Ohio - The Central State Lady Marauders beat Miles College, 88-75, to close out regular season conference play on Saturday.
Earning the upset win, CSU improves to 5-17 overall and 3-14 in SIAC play while MC dropped to 16-6 on the year and 9-6 in the conference.
CSU led by as many as 18 in the first half and reamined ahead by double-digits for the majority of the game. MC cut the deficit down to 10 with 4 minutes to play before a technical foul called on Imani Williams compounded by a earlier shooting foul called on the Golden Bears gave CSU a four-point trip down the floor. CSU managed to cruise to the 13-point victory which snapped a six-game losing streak.
Laurene Tere, a junior from Cleveland, Ohio, led CSU with a new career-high 24 points. Tere was a perfect four-of-four from three-point range and finished the afternoon making eight of 11 shot attempts. Tere also led all players with five steals.
Kailyn Nash added 17 points and six rebounds.
Diamond Phillips recorded 16 points and six assists while
Cathryn Jones chipped in with 12 points.
With Tere draining shots from beyond the arc, CSU combined to make seven of 18 three-pointers while MC missed all three of its shots from the perimeter. CSU made 23 of 31 free throws (74.2%) while MC went 19 for 34 from the line (55.9%).
Deresia Randle shined for Miles with 21 points and 14 rebounds.Â
CSU will conclude the regular season at home on Wednesday against Bluefield State.

Along with her 24 points, Tere's four three-point makes is also a career high.
Nash has scored 11 or more points in five straight games.
Saturday was the fifth time CSU has scored 80 or more points this season
