Marauders unable to overcome hot shooting Cedarville in 107-73 loss
CEDARVILLE, Ohio - In the final game before the holiday break, the Central State Marauders fell on the road to the Cedarville Yellow Jackets, 107-73.
The loss drops the Marauders to 3-7 on the season while CU improves to 9-3 overall.
Cedarville built up a big lead early thanks to efficient shooting from beyond the arc. Led by 22 first half points from Grant Whisman, CU converted 11 of 20 three point shots and made 21 of 40 field goal attempts to take a lopsided 60-32 lead at intermission.
CU led by as many as 43 before both teams emptied their benches in the second half as the Yellow Jackets cruised to a 34-point win.
Cedarville finished the afternoon shooting 48.8% (39-80) from the field and 43.6% (17-39) from three-point range. CSU shooting totals included a 43.3% performance from the field (26-60) and 30.8% (4-13) from beyond the arc.
CU held significant edges in points off turnovers (22-6) and second chance points (25-8).
Whisman led all players with 32 points which included nine three-point makes. Jacob Drees recorded a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds.
Kevin Moore led CSU scorers with 14 points along with seven rebounds.
Willie Jackson scored 13 points.
Marcus Steele added 10 points.
CSU will return to action on December 30 at Malone University.
