Central State falls to Fort Valley State on Homecoming, 32-17
WILBERFORCE, Ohio -Â The Central State Marauders fell to Fort Valley State on Homecoming, 32-17.
The loss drops CSU to 2-4 overall and 1-2 in SIAC play while FVSU improves to 5-1 on the year and 2-1 in the conference.
The lead would go back-and-forth in the first half, but the Wildcats made plays to take a 22-14 halftime lead, and they held onto that momentum for a 32-17 win.
After trading second half field goals, FVSU used up nearly nine minutes on a fourth quarter touchdown drive capped off by a Emmanuel Wilson touchdown run with 52 seconds left to seal the victory for the Wildcats.
While accounting for 300 yards of offense, CSU quarterback Kendall Boney was sacked five times while FVSUÂ held CSU to zero sacks for the first time all season.
The Marauders go on the road next Saturday to Tuskegee, with their next home game coming October 22 against Edward Waters.

CSU honored seven of its Hall of Fame inductees during Saturday's halftime ceremony.
CSU head coach Kevin Porter previously served in the same role at Fort Valley State from 2016 to 2019 which included an SIAC title in 2016.
Since the renovation of McPherson Stadium -Â Â which includes new field turf, CSU is 0-6 on its improved playing surface.
Saturday was the 13th matchup between the two schools. FVSU now leads the series, 7-6. The first meeting took place in 1972.

Central State travels to play Tuskegee on Saturday. The game will be played at 5 pm cst at the Cramton Bowl in Montgomery, Alabama.
