WBB Weekend Recap: Lady Marauders fall to Miles; lose to LeMoyne-Owen in overtime

Summary:
The Central State Lady Marauders turned the ball over 31 times in a 76-62 road loss to Miles College on Saturday.
Miles capitalized on CSU's mistakes, holding a 30-14 edge in points scored off of giveaways. The MC bench also proved to be a major difference by outscoring the CSU reserves, 37-11.
10 players recorded points for Miles. MC's balanced scoring attack was led by Markisha Body's 12 points and Alivia Mosley's 11 points.
CSU's
Dashanti Miller finished with a season-high 17 points while granning10 rebounds.
Kailyn Nash had 14 points and Larene Tere recorded 12 points and eight rebounds.
The loss dropped CSU to 2-8 overall and 1-6 in SIAC play while Miles improved to 11-2 on the year with a 5-2 ledger in the conference.

The Central State Lady Marauders erased a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter to force overtime before being edged by LeMoyne-Owen, 78-77, in extra time on Monday.

Down 61-51 early in the fourth quarter, CSU went on a 14-5 run sparked by freshman guard
Diamond Phillips, who scored or assisted on seven of CSU's nine field goals during a six-minute period. After two LOC free throws tied it up, 68-68,
Dashanti Miller converted a three-point play with a basket and free throw to give CSU a three-point edge but CSU was unable to close out the game, committing three turnovers and allowing LOC to convert three free throws in the final 53 seconds to send the game to extra time.

The teams traded baskets throughout overtime with six lead changes. LOC's Tya Freeman scored in the paint with 3 seconds to give her team the one-point lead. Forced to put up a quick shot, a Phillips three-point attempt to potentially win the game was off the mark as time expired.

Freeman led LOC with a game-high 21 points. Patrisha Lollis finished with 14 points and 17 rebounds.

Kailyn Nash paced CSU scorers with 16 points. Phillips finished with 14 points. Miller recorded her second double-double of the year with 12 points and 14 rebounds.

The loss drops CSU to 2-9 overall and 1-7 in SIAC play. LOC jumped to 6-9 on the season and 4-6 in the conference.

CSU returns home to host Lane College on Saturday at 1 pm.
