WILBERFORCE, Ohio - The Central State Lady Marauders lost to the Dragons on Lane College, 97-94, on Saturday


Led by the freshman guard Abbigail Peterson's 11 first half points, CSU took a 44-42 lead into intermission. The game began to turn in favor of the Dragons in the third as nine CSU turnovers in the quarter allowed LC to take a 63-60 lead into the fourth. The Dragons extended their lead to double-figures, 83-73, with 4:01 to play. CSU methodically chopped away into the LC lead and managed to cut the deficit down to one, 95-94, with a Peterson three-pointer with six seconds left. After two Lane free throws, CSU's attempt to send the game into overtime was off the mark as the team dropped its fourth straight game.


LC used a balance scoring attack in the victory. Kayla Simmons, who finished with 20 points, led six LC players who finished the game in double-figures. As a team. LC combined to make 38-of-81 field goal attempts (46.7%).

CSU made 31-of-81 field goal attempts (38.7%). Kailyn Nash finished the afternoon with 20 points, seven rebounds and six blocks. Peterson had 19 points. Ciara Hardy scored 17 points. Diamond Phillips added 14 points along with five steals. Lola Chambers recorded a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.


CSU hosts rival Kentucky State on Thursday at 5:30 pm.
