Box Score Defense lifts Marauders to 19-7 win over Lincoln
COATESVILLE, Pennsylvania – The Central State Marauders earned their first win under first year head coach
Bobby Rome II on Saturday with a 19-7 road win over Lincoln University (PA).

The CSU defense made its presence felt in the early stages of the game as they came up with two fumble recoveries inside LU's own 20-yard line. The CSU cashed in on both redzone opportunities with with touchdowns on rushes by quarterback
Siaosi Amaya and running back
Demonte' Dunlap.
Â
With the offense struggling, LU brought in new signal caller Andrew Banks into the game. With good field position, Banks capped off a 32-yard touchdown drive with a 4 yard run into the endzone to cut the CSU lead down to six.

LU sustained another drive at the end of the first half. An a 39-yard field goal attempt, the CSU special teams stepped up big with a block to maintain a 13-7 lead at half.

After a scoreless third quarter, CSU drove down to the LU 29-yard line before an Amaya pass was picked off and returned 40-yards. A tackle by receiver
Dalane Brown II kept the LU defense from scoring. At midfield, the LU offense was stifled by the Marauder defense. Faced with a fourth down and two yards to go, LU ran a sweep that was tracked down by CSU linebacker
Khaled Wahezi for a loss of two and a turnover on downs.

Regaining possession, CSU's Amaya found Brown II for a 49-yrd pass play and later connected with
Said Sidibe for a six-yard touchdown pass to put the Marauders up, 19-7 with 9:42 remaining.

The CSU defense kept LU from any significant threat of scoring while bringing down Banks for another two sacks to seal the victory.

With the win, CSU improves to 1-1 overall. LU fell to 0-2 on the season.

The Marauders will travel to play at Shaw University next Saturday at 1 pm.

Kailen Abrams recovered the ball for CSU at the 4-yard line. CSU quarterback
Siaosi Amaya scored on a 4-yard run to give CSU the early lead at the 10:23 mark of the first quarter (CSU 7-0).

Jamal Holloway rushed the passer and stripped the ball away.
Khaled Wahezi recovered the loose ball on the LU 16-yard line. The CSU offense cashed in on the good field position as freshman

Jamal Holloway was dominant in CSU's victory with a game-high 13 tackles, two sacks, a pass break up and a forced fumble.

Kailen Abrams recorded two sacks along with 9 tackles, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.

CSU had a combined seven sacks on Saturday. It's the most sacks a CSU defense has had since 2016.

CSU will face CIAA teams in back-to-back weeks (Lincoln, Shaw).

Siaosi Amaya made his first start for the maroon and gold on Saturday. Amaya completed 10 of 24 passes for 123 yards with one touchdown pass and a rushing score.
