Benedict cruises to 88-55 win over Central State
COLUMBIA, South Carolina -Â The Central State Lady Marauders were held to 25% shooting from the field in a 88-55 loss to perennial SIAC power Benedict College on Thursday night.
Central State falls to 1-6 overall and 0-4 in the SIAC while Benedict is now 9-4 overall and 5-0 in the SIAC.
BC opened the game with a 3-pointer and the Lady Tigers had a 16-point lead, 26-10, at the end of the first quarter. The lead grew to 49-23 at the half, and Benedict had as much as a 31-point lead in the third quarter before Central State trimmed the lead to 62-41 heading into the final quarter but the deficit grew to as many as 37 late in the fourth period as BC cruised to the victory.
BC grabbed a season-high 60 rebounds and placed four players in double figures.Â
Ayanna Armstead led the Lady Tigers with 17 points, whileÂ
Camryn Bostick added 16 points and gabbed 11 rebounds for a double-double.Â
Ay'Anna Bey also had a double-double with 14 points and a season-high 19 rebounds. Bey also had five blocked shots and four steals.
Abbigail Peterson led CSU with 11 points while
Cathryn Jones finished with 10 points.
CSU will play at Allen University on Saturday at 1 pm.
