Lady Marauders shooting woes continue in loss to Savannah State


 
WILBERFORCE, Ohio – The Central State Lady Marauders dropped their fifth straight game, 76-51, to Savannah State on Monday night.

 
CSU is now 1-5 overall and 0-3 in SIAC play while SSU remained undefeated while improving to 7-0 on the year with a 2-0 ledger in the conference.
 

CSU committed 38 turnovers while shooting 29.5% from the field (18-61). SSU, who led the entire game, shot 37.5% from the field (30-80) and outscored CSU off of turnovers, 36-19. SSU was also successful down low, holding a 46-28 edge in points scored in the paint.


Three SSU players scored in double-figures led by Le'andrea Gillis' 16 points. Azhana Maxwell finished with 11 points while Bria Gibbs had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.


Ciara Hardy led CSU's efforts with 11 points, seven rebounds and three steals. Kenedi London came off the bench to add 10 points and six rebounds. No other CSU players had more than six points in Monday's loss.


CSU is back on the road on Thursday at Benedict College.
