Marauders fade away late in 83-77 loss to Tuskegee

TUSKEGEE, Alabama – The Central State Marauders lost to Tuskegee, 83-77, on Saturday.

With the loss, CSU drops to a 9-10 overall record with a 6-6 ledger in SIAC play. TU improves to 12-7 on the year with a 9-3 record in the conference.

Trailing 22-14 midway through the first half, back-to-back three pointers by
Keandre Graves and another make from beyond the arc by
Theo Howard gave CSU a 23-22 lead. TU responded by closing the half out on a 11-3 run to take a 33-26 lead at the break.

Tuskegee maintained their momentum and built their lead up to 14 with 5:15 to play. The Marauders climbed back into contention as
Harris Brown scored eight of the next 16 points for CSU to cut the TU lead down, 70-68, with 2:26 remaining.

Gregg Boyd knocked down a three-pointer to put TU back up by five. CSU came up empty on its next two offensive possessions as TU pushed the lead up to eight with 44 seconds left. TU closed the game out by make eight of nine free throw attempts to seal the victory.

Tuskegee made 24 of 47 shot attempts (51%) while Central State converted 25 of 63 attempts (39.7%). The TU bench outscored the CSU reserves, 28-18.
Myles Thomas led Tuskegee with a game-high 26 points. Boyd came off the TU bench to score 24 points.

Brown led CSU scorers with 25 points while grabbing five rebounds.
Darweshi Hunter finished with 24 points and seven rebounds.
