CSU linebacker Kailen Abrams named to Don Hansen All-America Team


WILBERFORCE, Ohio – Central State University linebacker Kailen Abrams has been named to the Don Hansen All-American Team as announced by the Football Gazette on Monday.
 

Despite missing the first two games of the season, Abrams emerged as one of the top tacklers in the SIAC for the third straight season. Making his season debut in a Sept. 21 win over Clark Atlanta, Abrams earned SIAC and National Defensive Player of the Week honors after recording two interceptions and eight tackles. The 6'2 junior from Detroit, Michigan continued his consistent play all season and finished with a SIAC best 10.5 tackles per game while ranking fifth in the conference with a total tackle count of 84. He also forced two fumbles and recovered a fumble in eight games in 2019.
 

In addition to his All-American selection, Abrams has also earned All-Region honors and All-SIAC honors
 

Abrams is the first Marauder to earn back-to-back Don Hansen All-America honors since the 2010 season.


Abrams and his teammates will open the 2020 season on Sept. 6 against Howard University at the Black College Football Hall of Fame Classic in Canton, Ohio.

The Don Hansen team carries out the legacy of long-time small college football advocate Don Hansen, who passed away at age 75 on Aug. 29, 2010. Hansen, from Brookfield, Illinois, started and published Don Hansen's National Weekly Football Gazette for three decades, selecting NCAA Division II All-America teams for the first time in 1988.
