CSU regains form in final set to beat Paine

 
Lady Marauders hang on to beat Paine, 3-2
 
ALBANY, Georgia – The Central State volleyball team won its third straight match with a 3-2 win over Paine College on Friday.
 

Coming off Thursday's wins against Benedict and Clark Atlanta, CSU took the first two sets over Paine, 25-20 and 25-17.

 
Trailing by one point in the third set (18-17), CSU surrendered a 7-1 run to lose, 25-18. CSU was plagued by miscues in the fourth set, committing 12 errors as PC forced a deciding game with a 25-17 win.

 
CSU regained the same form it had in the first two sets as Deja Clark recorded five straight kills to help her team go up 7-3 in the final set. CSU led by as many as eight (13-5) and cruised to a 15-7 win to seal the match.

 
Clark finished with a match-high 21 kills along with 14 digs and three aces. Cormaria Cookesey also finished with 14 digs and recorded eight kills.

 
With the victory, CSU improves to 5-9 overall with a 5-4 record in SIAC play.

 
CSU continues conference play on Friday against Savannah State and Fort Valley State.
