Lady Marauders lose to rival Kentucky State

Central State drops rivalry game to Kentucky State, 71-58


WILBERFORCE, Ohio – The Central State Lady Marauders fell to rival Kentucky State, 71-58, on Saturday.

CSU's latest setback drops the team to 8-15 overall with a 5-9 mark in SIAC play. KSU improves to 12-11 on the year with a 5-9 ledger in the conference.
 
The Lady Marauders led by as many as nine in the first half and took a 35-31 lead by halftime.

Rims seemed to shrink for CSU in the second half as shooters combined to make just 24% (7-of-39) of their field goal attempts. While CSU struggled to find its offense, KSU managed to tie up the game, 47-47, heading into the fourth period and eventually built a double-digit lead over CSU, cruising to the 13-point victory.
 
KSU's Jessie Kee led all players with 22 points. Forward Brooke Wallace finished with 20 points and 15 rebounds. Kiante Butts also recorded a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds.
 
Chervelle Cox led CSU with 17 points, eight rebounds, and four steals. Falon Edwards added 14 points and six rebounds. CSU's top two scorers in Takyra Gilbert and Jaeda Davis combined to make just four shots and combined total of 10 points.
 
CSU will face Kentucky State again on Monday in Frankfort, Kentucky.

CSU remains ahead in the all-time series with KSU, 41-29.
 
KSU beat CSU in Wilberforce, Ohio for the first time since the 2015-16 season.
