Marauders come up short in 63-60 loss to Miles

WILBERFORCE, Ohio – The 2018-2019 regular season ended in disappointing fashion for the Central State Marauders on Monday in a 63-60 loss to Miles College.

 
CSU finished the regular season with a 6-22 overall record and a 4-14 mark in the SIAC. MC improves to 17-8 on the season with a 14-4 conference record.

 
Trailing by as many as 18 in the second half, the Marauder fought all the way back to narrow the lead down to one, 61-60, with 45 seconds to play. After a putback layup by Nathan Sheffield gave MC a 63-60 lead with 12 seconds left, a potential game-tying three-pointer from CSU's Martin Oliver was off the mark as time expired.

 
CSU struggled to match up with MC's size as they were outrebounded 40 to 24 and were outscored in the paint, 32-22.

 
CSU freshman Dorian Crutcher helped his team stay within striking distance as he led all scorers with 17 points. Tom Johnson finished with 16 points but no other CSU players managed to break double-figures in scoring.

 
Sheffield led MC with 13 points.

 
The Marauders will prepare for the SIAC Tournament held in Birmingham, Alabama next week. Tournament seeding and scheduling will be announced later this week.

CSU currently has four players averaging double-figures in scoring (Gilbert, Davis, Edwards, Cox)
 
CSU senior forward Malik Fisher played his final game in Beacom/Lewis Gymnasium on Monday.
 
CSU freshman Dorian Crutcher has scored 14 or more points in his last five games played. Crutcher returned the CSU lineup last Saturday after being inactive for nearly two months.
